Senator Graph is a prototype for browsing relationships between legislators, bills, committees, organizations, and other political entities. Relationships can carry dates, structured details, and citations so a reader can inspect the source behind a connection.
The app includes a graph data model, an API, a browser interface, and an importer for OpenStates data. Individual entities and their surrounding relationships can be retrieved and displayed together.
The intent is to make public information easier to follow across sources and time. A relationship or overlap does not establish motive, influence, or wrongdoing. Any automatically suggested interpretation needs to remain separate from the underlying sourced records. The project is an exploratory information interface, not an authority on those interpretations.
