GGAUS

Converts Gaussian splats into coarse, editable scene blockouts.

Plan and oblique previews of a simple fitted room blockout with a doorway, platform and obstacle.
Primitive blockout fitted to the project’s synthetic room fixture.

GGAUS takes an existing Gaussian splat and produces boxes and slabs representing major surfaces. The output is intended for establishing room scale and large features before more detailed scene work.

Process

The pipeline applies explicit orientation, scale, crop, opacity, and size filters. A conversion step produces a coarse collision mesh; surface sampling and plane fitting then identify supported rectangular shapes. Outputs include a blockout description, a GLB, a preview, and an Unreal import script.

A faster preview path fits Gaussian centers directly. Those centers are not recovered surfaces, so a visually plausible fit or a high coverage score can still give misleading geometry.

Primitive fitting remains experimental, especially with noisy scans. The generated Unreal importer has been checked outside the engine; an in-engine import is still a separate verification step. The intended result is an editable starting point, with neither surface detail nor a finished reconstruction implied.
